More than 100 juniors, their families, and community members attended the Spring Instruction Kickoff at Bell Gardens GC last Saturday, April 23rd. Juniors and their families from the Bell Gardens, Pico Rivera, and Maggie Hathaway instruction sites enjoyed the merriment that included games, food, and prizes. All youth had a chance to enter a raffle and win prizes by participating in fun games such as the Tic-Tac-Toe race, foot golf, a putting obstacle course, and SNAG golf. Juniors also had the opportunity to make a personalized golf stroke counter and decorate their own golf ball. Afterwards, they feasted on some barbecued hot dogs! And, in addition to current participants, we welcomed local youth and families who stopped by to check out the event and learn more about the instruction program. Girls who just finished their softball game at the adjacent field inquired and then participated in our festivities!
The Spring Instruction Kickoff was an opportunity for the juniors who are new to golf to spend time and familiarize themselves with the golf course. The Kickoff also allowed participating program members and families from all three sites to meet each other. Lastly, the Kickoff was a way to engage and draw the local Bell Gardens community in to their golf course. Not only is SCGA Junior introducing golf to the community, we are also building a community through golf.
From the looks on everyone’s faces, a good time was had by all!
