The SCGA Foundation generated $27,350 through its Northern Trust Open ticket sales, good enough for second place in the TICKETS Fore CHARITY program, and was therefore awarded an additional $6,000 from the bonus pool.
“We’d like to thank Northern Trust for involving us in their program again this year, and also thank the SCGA members who purchased their tournament tickets through us,” said SCGA Foundation Executive Director Kevin Gigax, pictured above with Northern Trust Open Executive Director Jerry West. “The money raised will be crucial in our efforts to expand our programs for the new year and ensure more Southern California youth have access to the game of golf.”
TICKETS Fore CHARITY offers nonprofit organizations a chance to raise funds in their name by promoting ticket sales to the historic Northern Trust Open. One-hundred percent of net proceeds from tickets purchased through the program go directly to charity: 80 percent to the charity promoting the tickets; and 20 percent to the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation, a community service organization.
In 2012, the program raised $253,180 for non-profit organizations in the greater Los Angeles area. The participating charities, led by the Boys & Girls Clubs Los Angeles County Alliance, generated $203,180 in tickets sales while Northern Trust donated an additional $50,000 in bonus funds for the top earning charities.
“Raising money for Los Angeles area charities is the primary mission behind the Northern Trust Open,” said Northern Trust Corporation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick H. Waddell. “We are grateful to all the volunteers and staff members at local non-profit groups that raised funds for their own groups by selling tickets to the tournament.”
Those who purchased tickets through the SCGA Foundation also received a Callaway gift card equal to the value of their tickets. Check scga.org/tickets next fall for another opportunity to purchase tickets and receive a gift card.
