On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Southwest Los Angeles Programming Team hosted an event at Maggie Hathaway Golf Course. As many know, Maggie Hathaway will undergo renovations in the coming months for a complete reconstruction of the course and its facilities. This community event aimed to raise awareness about the renovation while allowing attendees to enjoy the golf course one last time before it closes for preparations. Our goal was to bring the community together through golf, non-golf activities, music, food and networking. Maggie’s has always been a safe, loving and welcoming space for residents, touching many lives, including my own and it will continue to do so for future generations.

The day kicked off with the inaugural SCGA Junior x Green Dot Golf Club Invitational, which was a play day with nine representatives from Deloitte and 12 junior golfers! It was so impactful to witness their staff connecting with our junior golfers on a Saturday Morning as well as and familiarize themselves with the Foundation’s work. I am proud of how this event turned out, and it was wonderful to see so many junior golfers in attendance!

I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who helped plan this event, including our staff, vendors, Maggie’s staff, Glen and Mary Porter and Deloitte for their support. It was emotional for me to reflect on my own experiences at Maggie’s from a young age. Being able to witness the community come together to support this beloved golf course and the changes ahead makes me so excited to share this course with our juniors, and I can’t wait to see their reactions when they return!
