The SCGA Junior’s latest G.A.M.E. Day took place Monday at Big Canyon CC, when 24 G.A.M.E. Club members were paired with 24 mentors for a tour of the historic club and 18 holes of golf.
During lunch, the group listened to a number of speakers, including SCGA Junior President Ed Holmes, Danny Lane, who shared anecdotes about playing with Tiger Woods and Tony Romo at Pebble Beach, and Don Dubois, a former professional player who spoke about his experiences with golf and how it later led to success in the business world.
For the juniors, learning about the professions of their mentors was one of the most worthwhile aspects of the day. “I learned my mentor started one of the most successful female-led real estate businesses in Orange County without having a college degree,” said Kari Gordon, 17. “I thought that was really impressive.”
G.A.M.E. stands for Golf, Awareness, Mentoring and Education, and its purpose is to SCGA Junior members together for a day of golf and mentoring. Most of these juniors would not have access to a private country club experience without the G.A.M.E. Days program and support from donors to the Foundation.
