Meet Our Instructors

Jon Gomez has more than 25 years of experience in the golf industry. He was the Director of Instruction for seven years at The Foothills GC in Arizona and then Sterling Hills GC in Camarillo, Calif. For the past nine years, Jon has been the Head Girl’s and Boy’s Golf Coach at Saint Bonaventure High School in Ventura. He is also heavily involved with the Special Olympics golf program in Ventura County, coaching the golf team for the past five years and earning Volunteer of the Year honors in 2012.

Jon has been involved with SCGA Junior since 2005 and is currently a golf instructor at River Ridge GC in Oxnard.

What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

“Working with kids keeps me young. I never feel like I’m working when I am teaching kids.”

What’s your most memorable experience with SCGA Junior?

“Being asked with Dan Martin to sit in and give feedback to the planning stages of the initial SCGA Junior Instruction program. It was a great honor and I will always be proud of what we are doing and how much we are growing the game.”
