Meet Our Instructors

Former USGA P.J. Boatwright, Jr. Intern Teresa Thornton joined the SCGA Junior staff as an assistant golf instructor in 2015. Most recently, Teresa was the executive director of The First Tee of South Los Angeles, where she created and managed program activities, life skills curriculum and outreach efforts to more than 1,500 youth annually. Teresa has a passion for youth golf and helping juniors reach their potential, which is demonstrated through her previous work as a golf instructor and coach with The First Tees of South LA, Los Angeles, and Pasadena as well as for LAUSD. Her background in instructing, as The First Tee Level 3 Certified Coach and with SCGA Junior will help her excel in her new role, where she will focus on outreach efforts, girls programming and beginner classes.

Most enjoyable part of my job:

Working with kids and giving them the opportunity to learn, laugh, and play in a fun, caring and safe environment.
