On Saturday, the Foundation hosted our annual Scholar Reception! Hosted at Pacific Palms Resort, over 115 scholars, families, supporters, board and committee members celebrated our juniors’ accomplishments together. This year, we welcomed fourteen scholars joining the Class of 2028. Two women and three men in the incoming class will play golf at Division I and Division II collegiate levels at Stanford University, Southern University, University of Oregon and Cal State Dominguez Hills!
Two highlights from the event were showcasing incoming sophomore Cristen Legaspi’s story and hearing from Skylar Graham (video) about her post-USC graduation plans.
Recent graduate Shani Waite gave the ‘Graduate Speech’ and expressed how SCGA Junior has supported her. Waite recently joined the Southwest Los Angeles team as a program coordinator, and she is excited to begin her professional career with her SCGA Junior family.
It was a moment of great significance as six of the scholars received Named Scholarships.
The honors for the class of 2028 include:
SCGA President’s Scholar– Jonah Siu
Jim Duff Scholar – Salma Ibrahim
Friends of Golf Scholar– Josiah Joseph
Livingston Scholar– Meredith Holmes
COPi Cup Scholar– Dontya Bell
Deb Long Scholar – Haley Henderson

In addition to contributions from individuals and organizations, the program is fueled by the COPi Cup Invitational Pro-Am presented by Legistics. Thanks to the success of this annual event, the Foundation awarded $230,000 to 50 individual scholars this year.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in this special day. Your support and encouragement are invaluable. Congratulations once again to our scholars and their families!
