Impact Day, an annual event for Team Deloitte to engage with communities globally, this year extended its reach to the SCGA Junior participants and Foundation scholars. The event was designed to foster the personal and professional growth of the next generation. This partnership, which originated from the 123rd U.S. Open at LACC, where the USGA, Deloitte, and the SCGA collaborated on the FORE Youth U.S. Open Legacy Campaign to restore Maggie Hathaway GC, has proven to be a significant step in this direction.
This year’s event featured two workshops, Personal Branding and Business Chemistry, designed to give young golfers the skills they’ll need for the future.
The Personal Branding workshop, a unique opportunity for young golfers to learn from industry professionals, underscored the importance of a strong personal brand. Led by seasoned pros, the session introduced the concept of personal branding and its relevance in both sports and the business world. The participants gained insights on how to identify their unique strengths, values, and achievements, and how to effectively communicate them.
The Personal Branding workshop was an engaging series of activities that sparked creativity and encouraged participants to think about their own stories and goals. Participants also received valuable tips on how to present themselves confidently, both in person and online. By the end of the session, participants were not just better equipped but also excited about how to stand out and make a positive impression wherever they go.
The Business Chemistry workshop, an interactive and engaging learning experience, focused on teamwork, building solid relationships, and essential skills on and off the golf course. Based on Deloitte’s unique Business Chemistry framework, the workshop helped the participants understand different working styles and how these can influence team dynamics and performance.
Through fun activities and discussions, the young golfers figured out their own Business Chemistry profiles and learned how to recognize and appreciate the styles of their teammates. The session highlighted the importance of being adaptable, communicating well and showing empathy to build effective, cohesive teams.
In addition to the two professional development workshops, Deloitte Impact Day allowed juniors to connect with mentors, peers and professionals from different fields. We are so grateful to the Deloitte staff for including us in their Impact Day programming and look forward to next year!
