2023 was a tremendous year for the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation. In addition to launching a nationwide campaign that will change the future of junior golf in Southern California, with the support of the United States Golf Association and The Los Angeles Country Club, we’re serving more junior golfers than ever in more communities than ever.
To celebrate our expansion and accomplishments, all SCGA Junior participants and their families were invited to attend the inaugural ‘Hole in One Holiday Party’ hosted at Don Knabe GC on Saturday, Dec. 9.
150 families were welcomed with holiday gifts, festive crafts, golf challenges and opportunities to connect with friends from the five communities we serve: Riverside, Orange County, San Fernando Valley, Southwest Los Angeles and Southeast Los Angeles.
SCGA Junior “DJ Swing” provided the tunes and the Los Angeles Rams mascot and cheer team boosted spirits by taking photos with attendees and trying the present putting course.
While bringing our communities together to connect and strengthen our bonds was a major component of the day, there was also an inspiring, collective effort to raise $10,000 for crucial equipment needs. SCGA Junior programming locations have endured multiple break-ins over the course of the year, with the most recent raid taking place at our Whitter Narrows GC storage container in November.
Juniors who created personal fundraising pages earned entry into the ‘Grand Prize Putt’ for a chance to win free roundtrip airfare for two to anywhere in the United States. Nataliya Laciste, a Southeast Los Angeles program participant since 2015, nearly sunk the putt and was deemed the winner!
Through peer2peer fundraising, personal donations and raffle ticket purchases, the Foundation was just hundreds of dollars away of reaching the goal. Check out our donors and fundraisers here!
