SCGA Junior hosted its annual Occidental College (Oxy) trip in October, providing another successful educational experience for those interested in the college golf recruiting process. Thirty SCGA Junior/Youth on Course participants and parents attended the visit, hosted by Occidental’s head golf coach, Will Morris. The tour was led by four-year women’s golf team captain Maddie Greene, offering attendees a unique opportunity to hear directly from a student about what Oxy has to offer and what sets it apart from other universities in the region.
Families learned about the school’s rich history, including President Obama’s two years as a student, as well as the programs in which Occidental excels. The tour concluded with a Q&A session led by Coach Morris, who shared insights into the college admissions process and offered advice on how juniors can strengthen their applications for both golf and academics.
SCGA Junior thanks Coach Morris and Maddie Greene for taking the time to educate our juniors about Occidental College and looks forward to returning with a new group of students next year.
